i stayed home from work today and ground glass. it went well. then i went to class, and ground some more glass, because what one hopes for in stained glass grinding is not a jigsaw puzzle fit. one hopes for a pencil lead width between the pieces. so, i got it to that spot, and then started foiling the pieces.

i still need to foil the outside edge pieces (which are more tricky, because you only foil the inside edge bits), and then solder all the bits together before next week's class.

it's turning out really nice. someone in my class told me that he thought that mine looked the nicest out of anyone who'd chosen that pattern to work. and he was even one of the people who'd chosen that pattern. wow.

but i'm really looking forward to the soldering. i like soldering. i used to solder things a lot when i was a kid. my dad had a soldering iron, and i just liked melting the solder and the smell it made and how it was so cool. (yes, i was also a firebug as a kid. for years my mother wouldn't buy me candles because she was afraid i'd burn myself up on them.)

but, yeah. the gift certificate for this class was definitely a good winter holiday present. thanks, sweetie. :)
