Getting straight with veterans yet to come


IT SEEMS CLEAR now that becoming a U.S. war veteran is a growth industry. Within the next 12 months, we'll have a whole bunch of new veterans, people who will have been damaged in one way or another while serving their nation.

It may be that I will not agree with the war that these new veterans were called upon to fight. That does not mean, should not mean, that I do not honor their bravery, their commitment, their sacrifices. They will have seen things that I have never seen, done things that I have never done, and my quarrel (if I have one) is not with them.
