I am SO JEALOUS that you're going. I'm also jealous that you're staying at the Ukraina. That kicks ass. When I lived for a month in Moscow, I lived at this hotel:

And, dude! I'd love a postcard! I will e-mail you forthwith.

Why are you going to Russia?

Also, wait. You know Krup? Krup knows you?

no, i have never met krup, but we live in the same state. so, it could happen at some time!

krup, last time i was in moscow, i stayed at the akademicheskaya, which was quite adequate and close to a subway stop, but, uh, not architecturally distinctive. it looks like ukraina doesn't get good reviews from these people either, but if i wanted to stay in a sheraton, i'd stay in minneapolis, you know?

Wait, you know Frog? Frog knows you? Heh.

I've stayed at a couple of dorms as well, and the Kosmos a couple of times. I've also spent the night at Vnukovo airport, which doesn't really count as a hotel.

When I was studying at the university, I was all excited driving up to it, thinking I was going to study in that enormous gorgeous-yet-horrid building, and then we ended up in this funny little adminstrative-looking building. So I've never been in one of those Stalinesque buildings.
